Collagen for Full Body Care

What is Collagen?

Given that it’s the most abundant protein in our bodies, you have probably heard of Collagen at least once or twice before. As we age, our body’s process of taking in nutrients weakens, resulting in less quality Collagen fibers being absorbed by the epidermis, hair, and nails. Due to aging as well as other factors (UV exposure, smoking, etc), the skin loses elasticity, hair may thin, and nails become brittle. Collagen is also responsible for protecting the organs and helping blood to clot: vital processes that decline in function as we age³. Taking collagen orally has become increasingly popular as we continue to study and find the inherent benefits; taking Collagen as a supplement allows the protein fibers to reach the deeper layers of the skin’s organ system via circulation and promote new cell growth⁴.

Studies have shown that taking collagen supplements can contribute to supporting elasticity, hydration, and decreasing wrinkles and fine lines in the skin¹.

What are the different types of Collagen?

Collagen peptides can be sourced from bovine, pigs, chickens, and fish. Supplementing your daily routine with other sources of natural collagen is a great way to give your body an extra boost of support for hair, skin, nails, joints, and overall organ function.

Garden of Flavor uses Marine Collagen Peptides

In the Garden, we source the highest quality collagen from Marine peptides. Not only does Marine collagen sourcing have a lower environmental impact, but these peptides have a generally increased bioavailability; In other words, marine Collagen peptides are more structurally similar to that of human homology, and can be absorbed better by the body⁴. Our Marine Collagen is sourced from wild-caught fish in the North Atlantic Ocean, and is pure, with no additives, extracted from by-products of the food fish industry².
